Four Men Carrying a Table Up a Small Staircase
Last Saturday I joined the poets of the anthology, All the Women Came & Sang, All the Med Came & Danced in Zoom. I have already read a poem from the anthology in this space, so I thought I would use the opportunity to take a stab at a video reading. It’s difficult visualizing a page poem, but after thinking about it for a while I hit upon the idea of a comic book presentation. I backed it with an awesome drum track called Timpani For The Devil. Take a look and a listen.
The poem was originally published in the lit website, Typishly and will be in my next full collection of poems, Screens.
Here is a screengrab of some of the poets at the anthology reading. A good time was had by all.
Susan Okie
Susan has been part of my writing group, the Surrey Street Poets for some time now. Her intelligence and the way it permeates her work has always impressed me. I was therefore happily surprised to see her in conversation with the editor of her award winning collection, Woman at the Crossing. Check out this interesting and informative Substack.
Want more Susan Okie? Here is a video collection of Susan reading at various venues I’ve recorded over the years.
