I went to the exhibition of Pierre Bonnard paintings at the Phillips over the weekend and was absolutely taken by the way he worked his dogs and cats into his art. Here are a few of my favorites.

Just a taste of what you’ll see at the Phillips. It is a remarkable show with works throughout Bonnard’s life. His homes, apartments, and getaways. In his art, Bonnard shows us the often-missed world before our eyes. The one we find at the end of our fingertips. Don’t miss it.
Dreaming a Dead Cat
The pieces of a family float in time down the generations. The son becomes the grandfather as the daughter becomes the mother holding her baby. This is a poem of how we meet up in our dreams. Sometimes with the family pet. First published in Beltway Quarterly, here’s my Pushcart nominated, Dead Cat Dream.
Let me know what you think about my use of music in reading poetry. One might argue that it adds something that is not on the page. Well, I would say, that is the point, the same way that music adds something that is not on the captured film. As poets we now have access to extensive libraries of open-source musical accompaniment. I love searching though the Google library to find just the right setting for a poem.
